Jewish Wedding
All weddings no matter the type or religion that the ceremony is performed
in there is always some type of traditions or something special about them.
One of the most unique types of weddings there are is a Jewish wedding. Not
only is the ceremony beautiful but its filled with so many traditions and is
truly wonderful to watch. Jewish weddings always contain spiritual rituals
which confess the love the bride and groom have for one another as well as
how important their beliefs are to them. Without going into complete details
I will go over a few of the more significant moments that goes on at a
Jewish wedding.
The Bride and Groom
The wedding day known as the Yom Kippur is the most important
day of any Jewish couples life. In Hebrew the bride is know as a kallah and
the groom is known as the chatan. Once they are married any sins they
committed in the past is forgotten for they know embark on a new life and
with a new soul. The bride and groom both must fast from dawn until after
the ceremony. To increase the anticipation and joy of their wedding the
kallah and chatan may not see each other for one week before they wed.
Before the wedding begins they will greet their guests separately so they
bump into each other. They are treated like royalty with the kallah being
seated on a throne to greet her guests. The chatan is toasted and sung to by
his guests.

Huppah: This is like a modern day out side gazebo referred to as the bridal canopy or
or arch. It consists of a cloth spread on poles usually they are made out of
bamboo. The material is usually a light white or cream organza cloth and
sometimes there are Jewish motifs design on the material .
